PSALM 111

Great Are the Lord's Works

 Praise the Lord!

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,

    in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

Great are the works of the Lord,

    studied by all who delight in them.

Full of splendour and majesty is his work,

    and his righteousness endures forever.

He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;

    the Lord is gracious and merciful.

He provides food for those who fear him;

    he remembers his covenant forever.

He has shown his people the power of his works,

    in giving them the inheritance of the nations.

The works of his hands are faithful and just;

    all his precepts are trustworthy;

they are established forever and ever,

    to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.

He sent redemption to his people;

    he has commanded his covenant forever.

    Holy and awesome is his name!

10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;

    all those who practice it have a good understanding.

    His praise endures forever!

PSALMS 110

Sit at My Right Hand

1

The Lord says to my Lord:

    “Sit at my right hand,

until I make your enemies your footstool.”

The Lord sends forth from Zion

    your mighty scepter.

    Rule in the midst of your enemies!

Your people will offer themselves freely

    on the day of your power,

    in holy garments;

from the womb of the morning,

    the dew of your youth will be yours.

The Lord has sworn

    and will not change his mind,

“You are a priest forever

    after the order of Melchizedek.”

The Lord is at your right hand;

    he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.

He will execute judgment among the nations,

    filling them with corpses;

he will shatter chiefs

    over the wide earth.

He will drink from the brook by the way;

    therefore he will lift up his head.

Paul's Letter to TITUS Chapter Three

Be Ready for Every Good  Work

1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarrelling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. 3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. 9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. 10 As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

Final Instructions and Greetings

12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. 13 Do your best to speed Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; see that they lack nothing. 14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.

15 All who are with me send greetings to you. Greet those who love us in the faith.

Grace be with you all

Paul's Letter to TITUS. Chapter Two

Teach Sound Doctrine

1 But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. 2 Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behaviour, not slanderers or slaves to much wine.

They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. 6 Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8 and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. 9 Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so

that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour.

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

15 Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

Paul's Letter to TITUS Chapter One

Paul’s Letter to TITUS Overview (The Bible Project)

Greeting

1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began 3 and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Saviour; 4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith:

Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.

Qualifications

for Elders

5 This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— 6 if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. 7 For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.

 9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

10 For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. 12 One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work

PSALM 109

overviews of the Books of PSALMS ( The Bible Project ) https://youtu.be/j9phNEaPrv8

Help Me, O Lord My God

Be not silent, O God of my praise!

For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me,

    speaking against me with lying tongues.

They encircle me with words of hate,

    and attack me without cause.

In return for my love they accuse me,

    but I give myself to prayer.

So they reward me evil for good,

    and hatred for my love.

Appoint a wicked man against him;

    let an accuser stand at his right hand.

When he is tried, let him come forth guilty;

    let his prayer be counted as sin!

May his days be few;

    may another take his office!

May his children be fatherless

    and his wife a widow!

10

May his children wander about and beg,

    seeking food far from the ruins they inhabit!

11

May the creditor seize all that he has;

    may strangers plunder the fruits of his toil!

12

Let there be none to extend kindness to him,

    nor any to pity his fatherless children!

13

May his posterity be cut off;

    may his name be blotted out in the second generation!

14

May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord,

    and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out!

15

Let them be before the Lord continually,

    that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth!

16

For he did not remember to show kindness,

    but pursued the poor and needy

    and the brokenhearted, to put them to death.

17

He loved to curse; let curses come upon him!

    He did not delight in blessing; may it be far from him!

18

He clothed himself with cursing as his coat;

    may it soak into his body like water,

    like oil into his bones!

19

May it be like a garment that he wraps around him,

    like a belt that he puts on every day!

20

May this be the reward of my accusers from the Lord,

    of those who speak evil against my life!

21

But you, O God my Lord,

    deal on my behalf for your name's sake;

    because your steadfast love is good, deliver me!

22

For I am poor and needy,

    and my heart is stricken within me.

23

I am gone like a shadow at evening;

    I am shaken off like a locust.

24

My knees are weak through fasting;

    my body has become gaunt, with no fat.

25

I am an object of scorn to my accusers;

    when they see me, they wag their heads.

26

Help me, O Lord my God!

    Save me according to your steadfast love!

27

Let them know that this is your hand;

    you, O Lord, have done it!

28

Let them curse, but you will bless!

    They arise and are put to shame, but your servant will be glad!

29

May my accusers be clothed with dishonour;

    may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!

30

With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord;

    I will praise him in the midst of the throng.

31

For he stands at the right hand of the needy one,

    to save him from those who condemn his soul to death.

PSALM 108

overviews of the Books of PSALMS ( The Bible Project ) https://youtu.be/j9phNEaPrv8

With God We Shall Do Valiantly

My heart is steadfast, O God!

    I will sing and make melody with all my being!

Awake, O harp and lyre!

    I will awake the dawn!

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;

    I will sing praises to you among the nations.

For your steadfast love is great above the heavens;

    your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!

    Let your glory be over all the earth!

That your beloved ones may be delivered,

    give salvation by your right hand and answer me!

God has promised in his holiness:

    “With exultation I will divide up Shechem

    and portion out the Valley of Succoth.

Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;

    Ephraim is my helmet,

    Judah my scepter.

Moab is my washbasin;

    upon Edom I cast my shoe;

    over Philistia I shout in triumph.”

10

Who will bring me to the fortified city?

    Who will lead me to Edom?

11

Have you not rejected us, O God?

    You do not go out, O God, with our armies.

12

Oh grant us help against the foe,

    for vain is the salvation of man!

13

With God we shall do valiantly;

    it is he who will tread down our foes.
